Being out at sea for weeks on end, working up to 15 hours a day can be exhausting. Not only is it hard work, it can be lonely too. Especially if you find yourself on a Superyacht that has very few crew members who share your interests.
When you’ve docked, you have some time to explore by yourself. You can take in the scenery, go to the gym, go out for a meal, maybe go surfing or find somewhere to play tennis. What ever it is that you want to do in your downtime, you now have the chance to do it.
The only problem is, you don’t often have long at each destination and you want to make the most of your time off. You want to meet up with friends and go and enjoy activities together. But you may not always know who is around, unless they are in the berth next to you. Even then you may not actually get to talk crew aboard that you have anything in common with.
A lot of time can be wasted searching for things to do, and people to do them with. Then on top of that every time the boat changes location, you feel like you have to start all over again. Going out to find where to do your chosen activity and finding people to do it with. It can feel like a never ending cycle.
So imagine having an app that not only tells you what is going on at each location, but also tells you who is there. Every crew member can fill in a profile, upload their picture and click on the activities that they are interested in.
Within a few minutes you will be able to easily arrange to meet up with like minded crew from any Yacht located nearby. You can book onto activities and take part with others who share your passions. You’ll even be able to keep track of who is coming in to port while you are there and arrange to meet them as they moor up. With this app, you will have friends at your fingertips whenever you need them.
Why Do a Shared Activity?
Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and boost your mood.
Here’s the science bit 🤓 When you exercise your body releases many stress relieving chemicals inside your brain. Your neurotransmitters release endorphins, dopamine,
norepinephrine and serotonin. All these brain chemicals are significantly important for the regulation of your mood.
Participating in a shared physical activity combines these benefits and gives them an even bigger boost. Connecting with others and doing activities together creates a shared experience. This in turn lifts your mood as you are making connections, friendships and memories. We are going to take a look at the most popular activities for crew members over the next few months, starting with…
We had to start somewhere, and what better place than with surfing? After all, to be a crew member on a Superyacht, you need to have a love of the water.
On our app, we have discovered that this is one of the most sought after activities for crew members in the Mediterranean or Caribbean. Whether it is kicking back on a bodyboard or riding the crest of the wave on a long board, most crew members can’t get enough of surfing.
We have access to all the best locations for riding a wave and surfing the green room (inside the barrel). Fellow surfers can all hook up to carve a wave and show off their skills.
The locations for board and wetsuit hire are easily shared amongst members on our app as are the best places for surf lessons. Well, not everyone is a surfer, but you may just want to give it a try. We can help you connect with fellow newbies and you can have fun learning together.
What ever your skill level, if you are interested in surfing, we can help you find likeminded crew members and the best places to go. There is no need to feel alone, there will always be a fellow surfer somewhere nearby.
